26th annual prayer breakfast hosts former Disney animator
Every year hundreds of Yumans come together for a morning of prayer.
The 26th annual prayer breakfast is always the first Friday in February, this year it’s on February 2.
Together they pray for what’s happening around the world, in our country and in our local community.
“Today there’s a lot of things you can pray for,” said Bill Esmeier, prayer breakfast coordinator.
Every year between 720 to 1000 people show up bright and early.
“We’ve had people waiting to get in at 5:30 and they get done by 8 o’clock, we commit to them getting done by 8 o’clock,” he said.
This year the emcee will be Cathie McCloud and the special guest speaker is Davy Liu.
“He’s a very good artist and he uses his art to emphasize things during his talk and so he’s got a real good story to tell and he gives all the credit to the good Lord,” Esmeier said.
Liu is the founder of Kendu Films and is a former Disney animator. He’s worked on such films as Aladdin, Mulan and The Lion King. He’s be sharing his inspiring story at the breakfast.
The event will start with an opening prayer by a pastor followed by singing, then the Lord’s Prayer, the singing of the National Anthem and then the special speaker.
This event has gone from being a gathering of 18 churches to now 180 local churches. Everyone is welcome to this event.
Breakfast will be served in a buffet line style. Tickets can be purchased for $20 per person at the door.
