Yuma police officer accused of raping woman has resigned from YPD

Jared Elkins, the Yuma police officer accused of raping an intoxicated woman in San Diego in September 2017 has resigned, according to Yuma Police.

The seven-year veteran had been on paid administrative leave up until now.

The 33-year-old accused of sexual assault, totaling eight felonies, was off-duty at the time.

The now-former YPD officer will be back in court March 22nd.
