Two Rivers Renaissance Faire offering some new attractions this year

The Two Rivers Renaissance Faire is named after Yuma’s two rivers on our city’s logo. This event has brought families and friends back to medieval times for the past 12 years.

“We started down at West Wetlands Park and have since gone and moved to the fairgrounds so everybody don’t go to West Wetlands, come to the fairgrounds that’s where we are,” Desi Foster producer of the Two Rivers Renaissance faire told News 11.

Mark your calendars for February 2, 3 and 4.

The faire opens Friday, February 2nd at 10 a.m. and that day is also discount day as well as school day.

Saturday they open at 10 a.m. and close at 10 p.m.

Sunday they open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

General admission is $10

$8 for military and senior citizens

$5 for children.

This year there are some new attractions to look forward to.

“We have a different mounted joust then last year and the group that’s coming is called the imperial nights,” she said.

“This year we also have Gavin Demesterlin, who is also known as the crossroads mystic.”

And of course you can expect plenty of turkey legs, pirates and fairies at this year’s faire.

“A Renaissance fair is like stepping back in time a little,” Foster said. “We do our best to represent that so when you step in you are going to a completely different place, you get to be somebody else and dress however you wish,” she added. “If you want to be a knight or if you want to dress as a lady please do!” “We encourage the more you get immersed in the experience the more fun it is,” she said.

This year will also showcase some local talent.

“We do encourage a lot of local work, Banat Tabla is our belly dancing troupe and Musica Antiqua is a lovely renaissance group from here,” she said.

“We encourage people to bring their kids during the day and have good family time and then after 6 o’clock it’s adult time so take your kids home, get your hand stamped, come back and let’s have some fun for the adults,” she added.
