Fire officials respond to trailer fire

Rural Metro Fire Department responded to a trailer fire on 14th Street and Atlantic Avenue Monday morning.

Firefighters said the call came in at 9:24 a.m. When fire crews left the stations they could see heavy smoke and advised dispatch to upgrade the assignment. Fire crews arrived on scene, reporting that the trailer fire was fully involved with trees and brush also burning.

Other structures were endangered by the fire included a welding shop. The firefighters quickly went on the defense to attack the fire and brought the blaze under control and soon after had the fire out.

The crews went into the overhaul phase and started checking for hotspots. Because of all of the debris around the house, it took some time for crews to make sure the hotspots were cooled. Fire crews cleared the scene and the Red Cross was called to help the occupants of the trailer.

The cause of the blaze is currently being investigated.
