20-year-old man arrested after attempting to smuggle meth and pills

A 20-year-old Nogales man was arrested in a failed attempt to smuggle nearly half of pound of methamphetamine and 100 capsules of Tramadol at Arizona’s Port of Nogales on Monday.

Officers working at the Morley Pedestrian crossing referred the man for secondary inspection when he attempted to enter the United States.

During the inspection, a CBP canine alerted officers which led to the discovery of a package of meth, worth nearly $1,200. The man also had a second bag, which contained 100 capsules of Tramadol.

Tramadol is a narcotic pain reliever and treats moderate to severe pain, according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine.

Officers arrested the man for narcotics smuggling and seized the drugs before turning him over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
