Local deployed to restore Puerto Rico power

After the damages and destruction from Hurricane Maria, nearly half of the population are still without power. In efforts to rebuild, the Edison Electric Institute is sending restoration workers and support personnel to San Juan, Puerto Rico to clean up damages across the island. The Arizona Public Service is one of the Electric Companies involved in the mission and is sending 50 workers including a Supervisor from Yuma. Charles Molina will be a representative for the area and an asset to restore power in Puerto Rico “In some places, it’s a war zone with devastation and sometimes there are no homes to build power to,” said Molina. “I’m glad to represent APS as a company and somebody from Yuma who has the great opportunity to help.” Starting Monday (1/15), Charles will take off for the next six weeks working with The Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority, (PREPA) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers along with other agencies to complete the full damage assessment plan for Puerto Rico’s energy grid. In the upcoming weeks, APS will give us the latest updates on the day to day orders and video of the work being done in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
