Putting your new year’s resolutions into a vision board

We’re still fresh into the new year so it isn’t too late to make those resolutions. If you haven’t already set some intentions for 2018 consider making a vision board.

Monday, January 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. there is a vision board making class offered at Littlewood Fine Art and Community Co Op.

Fitness and nutrition expert, Kella Price teaches the class and explains why vision boards are so helpful.

“I do a vision board every year and it’s amazing to see as you go through the year and as your progressing towards your goals how you can check things off on your vision board, yep I accomplished that!” she said. Price is a coach at Kella Price fitness and believes firmly in setting goals. “When you have particular goals in mind if you don’t visualize yourself achieving that goal it’s kind of like that pie in the sky. It’s not going to be as achievable as if you are looking at it every day and picturing yourself in that end state or reaching that goal,” she said. “It can be a really positive way to work towards that particular goal and progress throughout the year,” she added. Price will be helping people during the vision board class decided what goals to put down. “If they have spiritual goals, goals for their family or children, personal goals, they might be health and wellness goals; we want to incorporate all of those into creating a vision board to really affirm those ideas and goals and help them achieve those throughout the year,” Price said. She explained how vision boards could have a positive effect on your relationships at work or home or even your overall outlook on life. She suggested not only cutting out magazine pictures to paste on your board but also personal photos. “Maybe a picture of their family and they have a personal goal like making sure that they improve their relationship with their spouse, a picture of their spouse or if they’re saving up for a vacation, a picture of that vacation spot, some personal items that they can bring in and incorporate into their vision boards.” Making a vision board is setting an action plan and Price believes people of all ages can work on this. “You’re never too young to start dreaming and planning goals for the year and setting your intention of things you want to accomplish because goal setting is an important part of life and that’s something that we can teach our kids to set goals and make an action plan towards achieving those goals throughout the year.” After you make a vision board, Price recommends taking a picture of it and making it your wallpaper/background on your phone or computer screen, that way every time you look at your screen you are reminded of your goals for 2018.
