53-year-old Yuma woman reported missing

UPDATE (Monday, January 8, 2018): The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office said Belem Mata was found to be in good health Saturday night. Agents with the Calexico Port of Entry made contact with Mata.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE: A 53-year-old Yuma woman has been reported missing after leaving her home Thursday at around 4:00 p.m. to visit family in Mexico and never making it to her destination.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) received reports of Belem Mata’s disappearance on Friday from the 3200 block of W. Phoenix Avenue at about 12:42 p.m. T he reporting party told authorities that Mata left her residence in a 2017 gray Dodge Ram pickup truck with the Arizona license plate BZF9919.

Family members in Mexico said Mata never made it to her destination.

Mata is described as a Hispanic woman, 5’5 tall, approximately 210 pounds, brown hair and brown eyes. Mata was last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans.

According to the YCSO, continuous efforts have been made to track Mata but have been unsuccessful.
