Suspect linked to VMI Supply Company burglary arrested

A man linked to the recent burglaries at VMI Supply Company was arrested Friday at an abandoned residence located at 1235 N. Perry Ave.

Two Calexico Police officers were conducting a patrol check at around 1:04 a.m. when they noticed a man come out of an abandoned residence that had a boat on the property with a black bag. Authorities had previously received reports that the man had come out of the boat with a black bag containing 12 gauge shotgun shells.

Officers questioned 36-year-old Sergio Aspuro who was wearing a camouflage hat, green jacket with a hoodie similar to the suspect that was captured on a surveillance camera when one of the burglaries at VMI Supply Company.

Aspuro had items with him that belonged to the business that was burglarized.
