Food for Fines

Bring in cans of food to pay your overdue fines during the 28th Annual Food for Fines program at Yuma County Libraries. From 9:00 a.m. Monday, December 11th until 5:00 p.m. Saturday, December 23rd , one dollar in overdue fines will be cleared for every 10 oz. (or larger) can of food that is donated. Only labeled cans will be accepted. No glass jars, or dented or expired cans. All cans of food will be donated to the local food bank. All library patrons are encouraged to bring cans for the food bank.

YPG: Artillery Testing

On Thursday, December 14th, Mark Schauer, Public Affairs Specialist/Editor for the Yuma Proving Ground, will present “Artillery Testing – the Bread and Butter of YPG’s Workload” at Yuma County Libraries. YPG has been America’s primary artillery and mortar tester since the early 1950’s, a mission that continues today , with tens of thousands of rounds fired each year. There is no charge to attend.

Mark Schauer has served as Public Affairs Specialist at the US Army Yuma Proving Ground since May 2008 . He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences (Liberal Studies, Public Agency Service/History) in 2009, and a Master’s Degree in English in 2012 from Northern Arizona University. In addition to working at the proving ground, Mr. Schauer has been an associate professor of English composition at Arizona Western College since 2012.

Fiesta Decembrina (December Fest)

Celebrate the holidays with Decembrina, at 2:00 p.m. for the 2nd Annual Fiesta December 15th. Families are invited to the San Luis Library on Friday, traditional conchas (sweet bread), hot chocolate, crafts, and a piñata. There is no charge to attend.

The San Luis Library is located at 1075 N 6th Avenue in San Luis, Ariz.
