Topic of the Day: President reverses park status

13 On Your Side wants to know your thoughts:

President Donald J. Trump sat in front of a crowded capitol building as he signed a proclamation reversing the national monument statuses on two Utah National Parks. Inside people cheered as the president arrived and signed the proclamation and at one point the crowd chanted “four more years!”. The two parks are just two of the over two dozen national monuments the president asked the Department of Interior to review.

The designation will lift heavy regulations on half of the land for one park and almost eighty percent on the other. In turn, this will open those lands to mining and grazing, something local tribes have been fighting against. Legal analysts Foresee a long court battle ahead of this proclamation.
