Digital Photography Workshop

Learn tips and tricks for using digital cameras! On Tuesday, December 5th, the Wellton Library is hosting a Digital Photography Workshop at 10:00 a.m. Jim Thacker, an avid amateur Yuma photographer and member of the Yuma Camera Club and Desert Artists of Yuma, will share tips about how to get the best shots using smart phones and point-and-shoot cameras. There is no charge to attend.

Virtual Reality

Enjoy the thrill of virtual reality at the library! On Wednesday, December 6th, adults and teens are invited to the Main Library at 6:30 p.m. to test out Oculus Rift and PlayStation 4 virtual reality systems. Experience three dimensional environments and learn how VR helps those with sensory needs. Ages 13 and older welcome. There is no charge to attend.

The systems were purchased as part of the Library District’s new LEADing (Libraries Enabling Assistive Discovery) Technology Project for people of all ages with physical and developmental disabilities.

Attack on Pearl Harbor

On Thursday, December 7th, Chuck Wullenjohn, Public Affairs Officer for the Yuma Proving Ground, will present “Attack on Pearl Harbor and Tragedy on Bataan and Corregidor” at Yuma County Libraries. Learn more about the surprise military strike that led to the United States’ entry into World War II. The presentation also chronicles the 75th anniversary of World War II battles in the Philippines that ended with the infamous “Bataan Death March” and the largest surrender of American troops in the history of the U.S. The story of what happened is dramatic, heroic and sobering. There is no charge to attend.
