Lockdown at San Luis High School

Friday at 8:19 a.m., San Luis High School was placed on a soft lockdown, according to high school officials.

O fficers from the San Luis Police Department responded regarding a call about a social media post in reference to a possible weapon located within the school premises.

The Yuma Union High School District said parents were notified shortly after the lockdown was announced via phone and email.

San Luis Police officers checked the areas within the school based on the information at hand for any potential threats and established a perimeter in the high school property.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. the lockdown was lifted after the search concluded . The call turned out to be a false alarm.

At this point, the San Luis Police Department is conducting a criminal investigation in reference to the incident.
