YPD and CHP release Thanksgiving enforcement citation stats

The Yuma Police Department and California Highway Patrol conducted enforcement details during the week and weekend of the Thanksgiving holiday.

YPD conducted an impaired driving detail from Wednesday, Nov. 22nd to Saturday, Nov. 25th. with the help of the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.

During the security detail, officers conducted 66 traffic stops that included five DUI (driving under the influence) arrests, three misdemeanor DUIs and two drug-involved DUIs.

The California Highway Patrol also issued citations during the Thanksgiving weekend. In the El Centro area, CHP issued 157 citations that included six property damage only collisions, four minor injury collisions, and eight DUI arrests.

CHP also issued citations in the Winterhaven area for one property damage only collision, one major injury collision, and three DUI arrests.
