Flynn to retire next year
Charles Flynn, the Executive Director of the Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area (YCNHA), has informed the Board of Directors of the YCNHA that he intends to retire in mid-2018 after nearly two decades of service to Yuma. He has guided the redevelopment of Yuma’s riverfront and worked closely with many partners, particularly the City of Yuma and the Quechan Indian Tribe.
Chairman of the YCNHA Board Brian Golding Sr, Economic Development Director of the Quechan Indian Tribe commented, “The Board, along with the entire community, appreciates Mr. Flynn’s efforts. Our focus now turns to finding a new Director over the next six months. The goal is to have a new Director in place by spring 2018 so that there can be a sufficient time to mentor that person prior to Mr. Flynn’s retirement.”
Mayor Nicholls, who serves on the Board of Directors representing the City of Yuma, commented, “The Heritage Area plays a pivotal role not only on the riverfront but also with Yuma’s downtown redevelopment. I look forward to playing an active role with the Board during the recruitment and selection process.”
A position description, job announcement, and instructions on how to apply are now posted on the Heritage Area web site http://www.yumaheritage.com/. While a nationwide search is being undertaken, qualified community candidates are encouraged to apply.
