San Luis Film Festival announces short film competition nominees

The sixth San Luis Film Festival announced the nominees for the Short Film Competition that will be included during the event on Nov. 14-17th at the Cesar Chavez Cultural Center.

According to Mr. Antonio Carrillo, President and Founder of the SLFF, for the first time, the annual event is including a short film competition which has drawn attention from countries like Germany, Poland, Australia, Iran, South Korea, Philippines, Italy, among others.

“A panel of judges already selected three short films under each category. The public is also invited to watch the nominees during the festival and vote for their favorite. At the end of each day we will announce the winner,” said Mr. Carrillo.

Nominees for the Horror category are “Look Through” from the Philippines, “Cowboy of Mount Laurier” from France, and “Roundtrip”, from Iran.

In the category of Fiction, nominees are “Well Done” from Italy, “Dawn” from Ukraine, and “Blows with the Wind” from Iran.

Best Comedy short film nominees are “Shine” from Germany, “Fingerman” from Ukraine, and “Roohangiz” from Iran.

For the Best Documentary nominees are “Chameli” from Bangladesh, “The Wall Within” from Mexico, and “Yi” from the United States.

The festival will be featuring “McFarland, USA”, directed by Niki Caro this year; “Dolores” directed by Peter Bratt, “Mosquita Muerta” (Playing Dumb) directed by Joaquin Bissner, and “A Rebel Without a Cause” directed by Paco Olmos.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the festival will begin at 6:00 p.m. every day. The event will be open and free to the public. Tickets are available at available at www.Eventbrite.com
