Recycling pickups a day early due to 2017 Veterans Day

The City of Yuma is advising customers that pickups will be moved up a day early ahead of 2017 Veterans Day.

City of Yuma residents who have their recycling picked up on Thursdays will have collections on Wednesdays. Those who have garbage pickups on Fridays will have collections on Thursday.

The residential refuse collection will take place as normal on Monday and Tuesday.

“The weeks when the holiday is later in the week, we notice lighter participation,” said Public Works Manager Joe Lopez. “We also see an increase in complaints due to people being unaware of the schedule change.”

Yuma City Hall will be closed Friday, Nov. 10th in observance of Veterans Day.

A list of all holiday-related schedule changes in the curbside pickup can be found in the Garbage and Recycling Collection section of the City website.

Other upcoming schedule changes are the following: on Friday, Nov. 17, Yuma City Hall will be closed as part of its normal rotating Friday schedule.

Curbside recycling pickups will shift again the week of Nov. 20th due to Thanksgiving for Monday-Thursday routes only; those will be picked up on Monday and Wednesday that week.

Also that week, City Hall will be closed Nov. 23-24th for Thanksgiving.
