LGBT festival celebrates diversity

The LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) Resource Center held its 2 nd Annual Imperial Valley Pride festival on Main Street in El Centro on Saturday night. Organizer Rosa Diaz said it’s a time to bring the community together. City officials took the center stage to show their support. Music groups and a special drag queen show entertained the crowd. Diaz said local sponsors made the event possible.

“In the Imperial County, there is a large population of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender intersex people. And to have one day where we can celebrate that diversity and say that we are a part of this community,” Diaz said.

The LGBT Resource Center is at 1073 Ross Avenue, Suite D, in El Centro.
