Yuma County Chamber of Commerce to host “Lunch and Learn” event

The Yuma County Chamber of Commerce will host a City Council Candidate Town Hall as a “Lunch and Learn” event on Wednesday, Oct. 11th at the Yuma Civic Center located at 1440 W. Desert Hills Dr.

The event will start at 11:30 a.m. through 1:30 p.m. and will cost $15 per person and includes lunch.

Attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions for City Council candidates who are running for a seat in the upcoming City of Yuma general elections on Nov. 7th.

The Chamber will pass out blank cards at the start of the luncheon for guests to fill out with questions for candidates.

Yuma primary elections were held on Aug. 29th where voters had the opportunity to elect or nominate candidates for the offices of Mayor, Presiding Municipal Court Judge and three at-large seats on the Yuma City Council.

Mayor of Yuma Douglas Nicholls and Presiding Municipal Court Judge James Coil were both re-elected to their respective seats in this primary election, per the Yuma City Charter.

Candidates who will be considered in the general election in November include Gary Knight, Ken Rosevear, Leslie McClendon, Karen Watts, Gregory Counts, and Kristina Rojas-McNair.

Candidates who choose to participate in this “Lunch and Learn” City Council Candidate Town Hall will have 45 seconds to answer questions posed by attendees. Each candidate participating will have three rebuttal cards and can raise that card for the opportunity to provide a 30-second rebuttal if they choose to.

The Chamber of Commerce’s “Lunch and Learn” events aim to provide community members with the opportunity to network and expand their personal and professional development.

This event is sponsored by Yuma Regional Medical Center, Achieve Enterprise Services, Cenpatico Integrated Care, 1st Bank Yuma, and RL Jones Insurance Services.
