Domestic violence up 21 percent this year in Yuma County
Domestic violence is up by 21 percent in Yuma County for 2017, according to statistics by Amberly’s Place that were released on Monday.
Although statistics show a decrease in victims for the month of September, the non-profit organization reminds the community that over 158 victims still had their lives change due to domestic violence last month.
47 of the 158 domestic violence victims are children that were impacted by physical or sexual abuse by a trusted loved one or friend.
Amberly’s Place will also be honoring Governor Doug Ducey, Senator Kate Brophy McGee, Senator Steve Montenegro, Senator Lisa Otondo and Representative Don Shooter at the first Amberly’s Dream Gala on Saturday, Oct. 14th at 5:30 p.m. at the Quartermaster Depot located at 201 N. 4th Ave. in Yuma .
The Gala will be a fun night of wonderful company, amazing food by Alex, and silent and live auction items as well as Black Jack, Craps, and Roulette.
Auction items include: a signed baseball by Don Larson only major league pitcher to pitch a perfect game, Cardinals signed jersey, hat and ball, custom totem pole, diamond tennis bracelet, diamond earrings, Pedal John Deer tractor and trailer, custom doll house, Lunch for your child and a friend with 3 superheroes.
There is also the chance for your child to be a YPD officer for a day, the chance for your child to ride in a Yuma Fire truck and tour the firehouse and so many more fun and exciting gifts.
