Man arrested on drug charges

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office said a man is behind bars after deputies found drugs inside a home.

Thursday at approximately 6:52 a.m., the Yuma County Narcotics Task Force (YCNTF)–which is a multi-agency task force comprised of officers and agents from the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office, the Yuma Police Department, the Somerton Police Department, the U.S. Border Patrol, and the U.S. Homeland Security Investigations–along with additional Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Yuma Police Department Detectives served a narcotics search warrant at a home in the 300 block of S. 43 rd Avenue in Yuma, Ariz.

With the assistance of YCSO K-9 “Jax”, the search led to the discovery of approximately 66.3 grams of heroin with an estimated street value of $3,978.00 dollars, 4 syringes loaded with heroin, and additional drug paraphernalia items consistent with narcotic sales.

The suspect of the search warrant, Michael Morales, 35, of Yuma, Ariz., was arrested and booked into the Yuma County Detention Center for possession of a narcotic drug for sale, two counts of possession of a narcotic drug, and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as an outstanding misdemeanor warrant from the Yuma Police Department.
