IV Expo hosts 4th Annual 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb

The Imperial Valley Expo will be hosting the 4th Annual Stair Climb on Saturday.

Participants will climb the grandstands multiple times to total 110 stories representing the number of floors in the Twin Towers.

Each year a local fire station sponsors the event, this year the Brawley Fire Fighters Association will be the sponsor along with the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

The event honors the 343 firefighters who gave their lives to save others on September 11th, calling it a climb to remember and a way to never forget.

“Each participant who comes will be climbing the stair in honor of one of the fallen victims; they’ll receive a lanyard that has a picture and the name of one of the fallen fire fighters. We have about, a total of 17 first responding organizations who are participating in this. We’ll have a little opening ceremony and then we’ll get started with the climb. There’ll be food concessions, beer concessions and hopefully a lot of fun,” said Alan Phillips, CEO of I.V. Expo.

Fire fighters will be climbing in full gear at the event and on site will registration will be available, but you better hurry because there are only 343 spots.
