Law enforcement preparing for President Trump
President Donald Trump is expected to be in Yuma this Tuesday ahead of his Phoenix rally. It’s all hands on deck for local and federal agencies to make sure that safety is a priority.
President Trump is expected to arrive at the Marine Corp Air Station Yuma around 1 p.m. on Tuesday. He isn’t the first president to visit Yuma. Back in 2006, then-President George W. Bush came to the desert southwest to talk about the border and immigration.
In other parts of the country, there have been multiple protests, especially in response to what Trump said about the protesters and counter-protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia. Local police said that they are prepared to handle protesters should they get out of hand. Otherwise, they’re hoping if there are protesters present, they’ll be respectful and peaceful.
“If there a protests planned within the city or the county, we hope they do it safely, respectfully and that they are peaceful about it. That’s what we’re asking, we just don’t want anything to get out of control around here,” Sgt. Lori Franklin from the Yuma Police Department said
