Two local schools are vandalized one after the other on the same day. El Centro Police believe it was done by the same suspect. Residents have a message for that person.
Central Union High School teacher Haydee Rodriguez said, “Students raise money to go on mock trial trips. They raise money for avid so they can visit colleges. They raise money for their cheer leading uniforms. This is hard earned money for their graduation celebrations.”
Local martial arts instructor Bryan Walker said, “I thought it was very cowardly that they would break into an educational school.”
El Centro Police said Southwest and Central Union High Schools were vandalized recently, possibly by the same suspect who took $1,700 dollars and extensive damages in three separate break-ins.
“If he spent the money, find a way to earn it and give it back to the students,” Rodriguez said.
Police said the suspect is between 5’10” and 6 feet tall, weighs 190 pounds, used camouflage clothing and face wrap, had a tan backpack, a large crowbar and drove a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle.
“That’s money that’s being missed because booster programs are the ones that support all the athletics down here,” Walker said.
“Hopefully, if a judge has this person in front of them in a courtroom, they’ll make them double that and donate money to the clubs at our schools,” Rodriguez said.
El Centro Police encourages anyone with information about this case to please call them at (760) 352-2111.
