Women come together for breastfeeding support
Women in the community, along with their families, came together at the Littlewood Fine Art and Community CoOp on Saturday to participate in “The Global Big Latch On”, a movement that helps connect women when it comes to their breastfeeding journey.
Their friends and family also joins in to celebrate and promote the idea of public breastfeeding. Lia and Stephanie Littlewood, President and Vice President of the CoOp said that they want to provide a space for women when it comes to breastfeeding.
“We want to make sure everyone knows this is a free-flowing place. We’re cool with people breastfeeding. We think it’s important for the babies,” Lia Littlewood said.
Peggy Russell-Haughton, who breastfeed six sons of her own and is an internationally board certified lactation consultant, was a guest speaker at the gathering, helping women talk openly about their own breastfeeding journey.
“We learn from one another. I shared initially a story of my own about my breastfeeding situations with my own kids. What that did was that helped set the pace of the tone for everyone to share…” Russell-Haughton added.
The Global Latch On is a worldwide movement, fostering a lasting support system for those in the community.
