Three people stabbed at house party promoted on social media

Calexico Police are looking for a 19-year-old El Centro man who allegedly stabbed three people at a house party promoted on social media.

Lieutenant Gonzalo Gerardo said, “It is our understanding that this party was broadcasted on the internet, that somebody was having a party. So, we had people from different parts of the valley show up to this party. During the party, there was an altercation between the suspect, who’s from El Centro, and the victim, who’s also from El Centro.”

It happened before 1 a.m. Monday morning on Establo Street in Calexico last week.

“There was a fight. And, as they were trying to separate them – after he stabbed the main victim, he tried to go after the other two,” Gerardo said.

Police said the house was packed with people and there was alcohol.

“There were a lot of people. We did elicit the help of the U.S. Border Patrol which helped us in securing the residence,” Gerardo said.

“These were under the age of twenty-one drinking, there was alcohol involved. These people were intoxicated,” Gerardo said.

Police know who the suspect is. They want him to turn himself in.

“It shows that he’s probably showing some sort of remorse. He can give his side of the story of what happened. Because right now we only have the victim’s side of the story of what happened,” Gerardo said.

But if he resists arrest, he might get hurt, Gerardo explained.

“We’re dealing with somebody who assaulted somebody, so the officer safety is a little bit higher. If he makes any sudden move for his waistband or if he takes out a knife, the probability of him being tazed or shot or batoned are a lot higher,” Gerardo said.

The three victims were treated at the hospital and were released.

Police encourage anyone with information on this case to please contact them.
