22nd Street, 4th Avenue to Avenue A
There will then be a complete closure along the portion of 22nd Street between 8th Avenue and Avenue A for the next several weeks. Drivers are politely asked to plan ahead and detour using 24th Street. 20th Street, Avenue 10E
Crews will be working in the area of 28th Street’s intersection with Avenue 10E to install a feeder line underground and then to install a conduit in the intersection. Work will require closed shoulders on both 20th Street and Avenue 10E near the vicinity of their intersection. Flaggers will be directing traffic through the workzone. The project is expected to take a total of 12 days and will finish by Aug. 4. 40th Street Pathway, near 32nd St.
Crews will installing a pedestrian refuge near 32nd Street and the East Main Canal crossing next week, requiring lane shifts and a reduction of traffic to one lane in each direction in the workzone. I-8, Giss Parkway – ADOT
The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) will maintain two-way traffic on Giss Parkway and access to businesses near the work zone. The westbound off- and on-ramps at I-8 and Giss Parkway remain closed through mid-August.
This is part of an ADOT project to improve the interchange area of westbound Interstate 8 and Giss Parkway is under way, and will take approximately seven months to complete. The $1.8 million project will consist of the construction of a two-lane roundabout at the interchange to accommodate commercial trucks and other large vehicles. Work will also improve drainage, intersection lighting, signage and lane striping. Drivers will be asked to use alternate routes, including the 16th Street exit. The speed limit in the work zone will be reduced. Drivers should watch for construction personnel and equipment, and obey all posted speed limits and signs.
I-8, Araby Road – ADOT
ADOT will also be relocating telecommunication lines on Araby Road, Gila Ridge Road and I-8. The following restrictions will be in place around the clock through Sunday, July 16 :
The westbound I-8 on-ramp and eastbound I-8 off-ramp at Araby Road will be closed. A right-turn only restriction will be in place from westbound I-8 to northbound Araby Road. Drivers are asked to please consider using Avenue 3E or Avenue 8 1/2 E instead. Araby Road will be narrowed to one 11-foot lane in each direction from the north side of Interstate 8 to the south side of Interstate 8 and the speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph. Drivers can use Avenue 3E or Avenue 8 1/2 E as a detour. Gila Ridge Road will be closed in both directions just south of Araby Road at the Tanimura and Antle Produce building; however, access to Tanimura and Antle will remain open on the west side of the building. Plan for heavy traffic and allow extra time.
8th Street, Castle Dome – Pacific
8th Street is closed between Castle Dome and Pacific Avenue. Pacific Avenue is closed to through traffic north of 12th Street, and closed to all traffic north of 8th Street. Roadway, water and sewer work is being done in conjunction with the Pacific Avenue Athletic Complex. Detour by using 12th Street between Pacific and Castle Dome Avenue. The project is anticipated to be complete in late summer.
Avenue 3E/US 95
A nine-month project to widen and improve both US 95 and Avenue 3E is currently under way.
Highway 95 is reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction from Avenue 3E to Araby Road (a stretch of approximately 3.5 miles) as part of the construction for this project. The speed limit in the area will be reduced to 25 mph. The $3.2 million project will widen both roads to five lanes and to include a turn lane. Work will take place on Avenue 3E from north of the Interstate-8 interchange to past the US 95 intersection, as well as on U.S. 95 from about 500 feet west of the Avenue 3E intersection to just past the Araby Road intersection. Both roads are expected to remain open with lane restrictions in place while the project is underway. Drivers are asked to find alternate routes to avoid potential delays. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) will maintain access to businesses in the work zone and keep both roadways open during construction. The project is scheduled to be completed by August 2017 .
I-8 west of 4th Ave. – Caltrans Caltrans crews continue to work on the reconstruction of Interstate-8 in Imperial County, west of Yuma. Beginning on May 8 , Caltrans will close westbound Interstate 8 ramps at Algodones Road/State Route 186 (SR-186) due to ongoing construction. Signs will be in place to alert motorists to the ramp closures and alternate routes. The closures and detours will be in place through August. Crews continue work on I-8 from SR-111 to the California/Arizona border in Imperial County. Lane closures and traffic closures along I-8 may cause delays.
The I-8 Corridor is a major pavement rehabilitation project consisting of five segments that will construct Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP) over 48 miles on Interstate 8 in Imperial County. The work will result in a long-lasting superior roadway, capable of withstanding the heaviest traffic loads. Construction began in 2016 on three of the five segments. Work will be completed by 2019.

32 nd Street from Catalina Drive to Arizona Avenue (crack seal) 32 nd Street from Winsor Avenue to Pacific Avenue (crack seal) *During this crack seal project, the speed limit in the sections of 32nd Street listed above will be reduced from 45 mph to 25 mph. Traffic control signs will be in place.
