Local Bank gives Police Department special “thank you”

The Yuma Police Department received a special “thank you” this morning, from First Bank of Yuma following the quick response to their bank robbery in June. First Bank of Yuma Community Relations Officer, Jeff Byrd, shared a few words of gratitude for the officers’ hard work and provided Mostly Muffins and refreshments. Chief Lekan also acknowledged his team’s efforts and how it takes more than the police force to take down the “bad guys”. “We appreciate it, and it’s just another example of this United for Yuma mentality we have in Yuma. Our businesses appreciate what we do, and we’re here to protect our community and we can’t do it without the help or support in our community and this morning was a perfect example today .” The response time for YPD to arrive on the scene the day of the robbery was under two minutes, and with the suspects in custody within 24 hours.
