Driver dies pinned under vehicle

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office has identified the woman that died after the vehicle she was driving rolled back on her and pinned her.

Wednesday at approximately 9:54 p.m., the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single vehicle collision on Alameda Avenue and 26 th Street in the Foothills.

The initial investigation revealed that the driver of the silver, 2013 Jeep Compass attempted to exit the vehicle believing that the vehicle was in the park position; however, the vehicle was not in the park position and rolled back over the driver, who then became pinned under the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, Monica Tuggle, 63, of Yuma, was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin notification has been made.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation; however, alcohol does appear to be a factor in the collision.
