A Yuma home is declared a total loss after a fire left it destroyed Monday afternoon.

Rural Metro Fire Department says it was around 4:00 p.m. when they received 911 calls reporting smoke and flames coming from a residence on the 13000 block of East 43rd Street.

10 fire officials responded to the scene and began to put out the fire. “The firefighters did an amazing job fighting this fire in 100-plus degree heat,” stated Charly McMurdie of the Rural Metro Fire Department.

Fire officials say there were no other structures endangered and the fire was put out quickly. The fire destroyed the garage with major damage done to the house. Officials have declared the home a total loss.

No one was injured in the process and there was no one home at the time of the fire. The fire is currently under investigation and anyone with any information is urged to contact Rural Metro Fire Department or local law enforcement.
