Suspected robber identified, arrested thanks to Facebook tips

A man is behind bars charged with strong armed robbery in Yuma this afternoon.

Yuma police arrested 18-year-old Louis Clement Stearns who is accused of a strong arm robbery at Circle K, located on 8th Street on June 23rd. Four days later, the suspect, again shoplifted the same store.

Yuma Police Department says participating in the crime solving process has never been easier with your smartphone or computer.

“Within thirty minutes of posting the surveillance images of the suspect on Facebook we received a tip. It ended up working out great because the tip checked out to be the suspect,” said Lori Franklin Public Affairs Officer for the Yuma Police Department.
