Officer wanted in connection to death of co-worker captured

Rigoberto Sanchez is sitting in a cell at the Yuma County Adult Detention Center awaiting extradition to Bakersfield. Sanchez is believed to be the primary suspect in the shooting death of Edwin Lima. Lima was killed at his apartment and according to police reports Sanchez and his wife were at Lima’s home when an altercation broke out and according to police, Sanchez shot Lima.

According to reports Sanchez then fled and headed south towards Mexico; where he was apprehended by U.S. Marshals. Both Sanchez and Lima were Correctional Officers at the Tehachapi State Prison. Sanchez is facing murder, stalking and burglary charges.
