HSOY celebrates 10,000th animal rescued

Since 2007, the Humane Society of Yuma rescue program has been executed solely by volunteers at the Humane Society of Yuma and has transferred thousands of animals each year to partnering rescue organizations that provide the additional opportunities to ensure that they get adopted.

The following year, 2008, the Humane Society of Yuma was granted funding by the ASPCA to purchase a van dedicated to the transport of animals. In February of that year, they loaded the first dog, a Boxer, and transported the animal to Boxer Luv Rescue of Phoenix, the rest is history.

Nine years later, HSOY is celebrating the 10,000 th animal to be loaded onto the Rescue Express with the retirement of the dedicated volunteer and board member, Loma Clark. Clark has shared her passion for the homeless pets of Yuma by donating her precious time to the animals and the organization by dedicating most of her volunteerism to the Rescue Program at the Humane Society of Yuma.

As the organization celebrates the 10,000 th animal on the Rescue Express, HSOY is also saying goodbye to a staple character in the organization. On behalf of the staff, volunteers and animals, HSOY would like to acknowledge the great work and dedication that Clark has given to the HSOY’s Rescue Program. Clark has worked tremendous hours to find alternative placements for the unwanted pets of Yuma and has played a key role in the life saving efforts of the organization. The Rescue Program would not have seen the success without her.
