Two Marines recovering after aircraft maintenance explosion
Two Marines are recovering from severe burns after an aircraft explosion occurred at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar on Sunday.
According to a base spokesperson, two Marines from Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 112 (VMFA-112) were performing an aircraft maintenance on an F/A-18 shortyl after 10:18 p.m. at the time of the explosion.
Officials said the Marines are being treated for severe burns at the University of California, San Diego Regional Burn Center.
The case is still under investigation.
