Topic of the Day: Jurors Deadlocked in Cosby Case

13 On Your Side wants to know your thoughts:

For months the country has listened to account after account of women who have accused famed comedian Bill Cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting them. Out of the dozens, only one case has made its way into a courtroom and so far the jury has returned deadlocked.

Its been four days since the jury went into deliberation and since then jurors have asked to see addition evidence and have even asked the court for the judge’s definition of what “without her knowledge” meant. If the jury is unable to come to a unanimous decision the judge will declare a mistrial.

The case stems from accusations from Andrea Constand who’s case was the only one filed before the statue of limitations had expired. Constand claims that Cosby who she saw as a father figure drugged her and then sexually assaulted her. Cosby’s defense team pointed out that after the so-called assault, Constand continued a relationship with Cosby.

Many questions have sprouted over the past few months primarily why the victims waited so long? Cosby was once an A-list celebrity who starred in T.V. Shows, made movies and was a top rated comic. But at 79, Cosby has long since left the limelight and the man that was once known as “America’s Dad’ will be leaving a different legacy behind. Regardless of the court’s decision Mr. Cosby’s days inside a courtroom will not be over any time soon. Dozens of accusers have filed civil suits against him.
