Police respond to Motel 6 for possible suicidal suspect

Several Yuma Police Department officers responded to Motel 6 on 16th Street and Arizona Avenue for a possible suicidal man in one of the hotel rooms.

5:15 p.m.

Officers say they made contact with the suspect at around 12: 30 p.m. and were able to determine he wasn’t a harm to himself or others.

12:27 p.m.

Officers said they were contacted by a third party calling from a professional organization that deals with people at risk of hurting themselves.

Police said the 911 caller claimed they were on the phone with the suspect and lost contact leading them to call police Wednesday morning.

Officers are asking the public to avoid the area.
