Officers release holiday DUI numbers

The Yuma Police Department said there were seven DUI arrests over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. The City of Yuma Police Department conducted impaired driving details during the nights of Friday May 26th, Saturday May 27th, Sunday May 28th and Monday May 29th of 2017 with help from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. The focus was impaired driving and the apprehension of impaired drivers.

During this detail YPD had 23 extra officers working and they conducted 287 traffic stops which resulted in:

Seven total DUI Arrests, one of them was Aggravated DUI, three were for Misdemeanor DUI, two were for extreme DUI, and one was for Under 21 DUI. Twenty-three of the contacts were sober driver’s.

YPD said 70 speeding citations issued, three of them were for Criminal Speed.

Officers said there were nine Seatbelt violations, five were Child Restraint violations.

There were 146 violations cited for other than speeding.

The average BAC was 0.152.
