Level three sex offender living in Yuma
The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office would like to notify the community of a level three sex offender that is now living in Yuma.
YCSO said David Allen Knaff, 72, is now residing in the 11000 Block of E. 38th Street in Yuma. He is described as 5 feet, 7 inches, 173 pounds, with bald/gray hair and blue eyes.
On May 8, 1989, Knaff was convicted by the Teton County District Court of Great Falls, Montana of sexual intercourse without consent, and in a separate case, he was convicted of sexual assault. He was sentenced to a total of 45 years in prison, and only served 25 years of the sentence. His victims in both cases were 11 year old females. The first victim was known to him, and the second victim was unknown to him.
Investigators with the Great Falls Police Department have advised the YCSO Sex Offender Compliance Team that Knaff likes to go to churches, shelters, bus stops and parks to play his guitar in order to draw kids to him.
Knaff is considered a Level 3 sex offender/sexual predator with a high risk to reoffend.
Sex offenders are categorized in three levels based on the risk that they pose to the community to reoffend.
— Level 1 – low risk
— Level 2 – intermediate risk
— Level 3 – high risk
