Driver fails to yield to police vehicle, resulting in injury collision

A Yuma Police officer is recovering after an injury collision. Officials say it was about 8:20 a.m. Saturday morning when the Yuma Police Department responded to the 8500 block of East 32nd Street, in reference to an injury accident.

The initial investigation revealed a Nissan Altima was traveling westbound on 32nd Street near South Avenue Eight East when the driver failed to yield to a Yuma Police vehicle that was stopped in the roadway assisting another vehicle, resulting in a collision.

The driver of the Nissan was transported, treated and released at Yuma Regional Medical Center. The Officer involved was also treated at Yuma Regional Medical Center and was later released.

This case is still under investigation.
