Yuma Police Department launches E-Ticketing

The ticketing process is becoming more efficient for the Yuma Police Department thanks to its new E-Ticketing system. Officials say Local Judicial Collection Enhancement Funds allowed the department to roll out electronic ticketing on April 19, 2017. Sgt. Lori Franklin says it has been a year in the making, now YPD has 30 Panasonic scanners and 30 portable printers to help streamline the ticketing and vehicle towing process throughout the city of Yuma.

The Panasonic device can scan the driver’s license, vehicle barcode and take pictures–automatically downloading the information. “The device will help speed up the process of filling out citations, warnings and tow forms allowing everybody to get back on the road faster,” says Sgt. Franklin.

According to YPD, E-Ticketing will also help reduce errors and the printed E-Tickets will be easier to read. The devices are said to electronically send information to the proper court and the Yuma Police records section, eliminating the need to manually enter the information.
