Topic of the Day: For The Love Of Tacos
13 On Your Side wants to know your thoughts:
Although the exact time of when the taco came into fruition isn’t known, literature dating back to the Spanish conquistadors shows they enjoyed the dish when they arrived in Mexico. Since then the popular little finger food has evolved into one of the top favorite dishes of Americans; so much so that Eater.com a gourmet food website predicted that the taco could replace the hamburger as America’s favorite dish.
The City of Yuma has been celebrating the taco with it’s Tunes and Tacos Festival and each year the event has grown exponentially. The festival kicks off on Friday with top local salsa makers going head to head to see who’s recipe will win them the crown of Salsa Queen. On Saturday, the Desert Southwest’s top chefs will slice and dice and cook up their very best to take their place as Taco King.
So, whether you enjoy carne asada, al pastor, carnitas or shrimp on a corn, flour or wheat tortilla the Tunes and Tacos Festival may be just what you’re looking for.
