Shiva & Sasha to the Rescue!: A Season 7 Recap

“The First Day of the Rest of Your Life.” Hands down, the best episode I’ve seen this entire season.

From Shiva to Carl to Ezekiel, everyone made an unforgettable entrance.

Season 7 began as one of the most depressing, dark seasons writers could have ever thought up. Thousands across the country asked, “Why Glenn? Why Abraham?”

Those key characters have carried this show through for years, especially Glenn.

I grew up watching and loving the character he became. This season had a rough beginning, but I never lost hope.

The lingering reality was that we all knew Rick had to see Glenn and Abraham’s legacies through.

It was settled. Negan has to die. And Rick even made that promise during the season finale.

Episode after episode, viewers looked forward to televisions’s most hated villain’s death.

However, as time went by we only got to see how powerful this monster of a human really was.

Negan. An absolute heartless, ruthless, savage and barbaric excuse of a person.

So as time went by, as Rick and the group began to develop an army, and we waited.

And as another season came to an end, so did the life of another beloved character.

However, Sasha did not go in vain. She died a heroic death in order to save the group. And boy, did she save them. Talk about perfect timing.

For those of you who didn’t watch, (which you really, really should,) Sasha took the drug Eugene made earlier in the season.

And as a result, she took her own life all in the hopes that Negan would open the coffin.

Her suicide has been labeled by fans and show experts as heroic. She took her life knowing she had a chance to take down Negan.

Although we were all anticipating the epic moment of Negan’s death, she didn’t kill him.

However, she did distract him, which led to the one of the greatest war scenes The Walking Dead has ever seen.

The best part? Walker Sasha almost got to take a bite out of Negan himself.

The distraction lead to one of the most epic episodes of the season. For the entire season, there was a hopeless atmosphere: The power Negan had over his army was nearly impalpable.

Until, Sasha, Carl, Ezekiel and Shiva saved the day.

Even The Talking Dead perfectly depicted the moment: They documented the reactions from fans all across the country who were shocked by Shiva’s entrance and Carl’s assertiveness.

As Negan was about to kill Carl, Shiva jumped on one of his men, distracting the villain himself.

Then it was as if it was a domino effect, Ezekiel’s people began attacking too. That’s when we all witnessed Negan’s moment of weakness and he fled Alexandria with the remainder of his Negan mini-me’s.

What a sweet taste of revenge. While we lost Sasha, it looks as though we’re about to gain a whole lot more in Season 8.

The Walking Dead producer Scott M. Gimple even reassured us: The first four episodes of Season 8 will be even more exciting.
