Woman rolls car over in parking lot

Yuma Fire Fighters used the jaws of life to help a woman get out of her car that rolled over in a parking lot.

Officials say the woman in her 70s clipped another vehicle and then rolled her SUV over on a tree and curb.

The accident happened around 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.

“We had her out of the vehicle and had her checked out by EMS within a matter of five minutes,” says Mark Gordon from the Yuma Fire Department.

Gordon says the crew made the decision to cut the woman’s front windshield to get her out.

“The commander felt it was the best way to get the patient out of the vehicle, through the front windshield. We did have a fire fighter inside with the patient and the decision was made because it’s easier and quicker to remove the driver from the front windshield,” says Gordon.

Both the woman and the other driver walked away from the accident without any injuries.

“Fortunately the passenger didn’t sustain any injuries. The vehicle besides being on it’s side actually didn’t suffer many damages besides the side mirror being crushed and the window being removed,” said Gordon.
