Woman arrested while visiting prison
A woman was arrested for being suspected of smuggling drugs into Calipatria State Prison while she visited an inmate.
Officers say, Jessica Neal Gideon, 42, was visiting inmate Marion J. Harris, who is convicted of possession of cocaine for sale and assault with a firearm, on Saturday.
Officers say they noticed Harris reach into Gideon’s waistband while the two hugged each other.
Officers separated the two and found two bindles when they searched Harris.
One bindle had 79.5 grams of heroin and the other had 12.4 grams of suspected marijuana.
The drugs had an estimated prison value of more than $62,000.
Gideon was booked into Imperial County Jail and is facing felony charges. If convicted she could be sentenced to three to five years in prison.
