Yuma would suffer the most under Trumpcare, according to national study

President Trump proposed the American Health Care Act on Thursday, a plan that would replace the Affordable Care Act.

However, Yuma ranked first among cities that would be negatively affected by Pre sident Trump’s plan, according to a study by Wallethub: http://bit.ly/2mYc5Z8 While the bill known as “Trumpcare” would save the government over $300 billion, nearly 24 million Americans would suffer. According to Wallethub, the city of Yuma is ranked as the most negatively affected city to suffer under the President’s news healthcare plan. Jill Gonzalez, an analyst with Wallethub said the study took 457 cities across the country and analyzed the impact it would have on those currently insured. “Not only does this really cut down or add to the uninsured rate nationwide but some cities are very disadvantaged by this new subsidy proposal,” Gonzalez said. “There are certain cities that actually benefit from it, they happen to be more affluent and older.” With the President’s plan, health care premiums would rise by nearly 15% to 20% by 2018. “Those affected in a negative way would be number one on this list, which is Yuma,” Gonzalez said. “[Yuma would] have the biggest subsidy living that’s negative.” On top of higher premiums, the number of uninsured would skyrocket to 52 million people compared to the current 28 million people.
