MAD’s Hollywood Rundown: DC’s Aquaman

Oh, the world of comics, you gotta love them. Personally I am more of a DC fan myself, but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy watching the Avengers from time to time. Speaking of DC, here is the low down on what to expect this year movie wise from the franchise. The DC extended universe will return to theaters this June with Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot; Followed by the Justice League in November. Meanwhile, the filming of a personal favorite of mine, Aquaman is gearing up to begin. The film starring Jason Momoa, will mark the actor’s third time playing Arthur Curry/Aquaman after a cameo in Batman v superman: Dawn of Justice and his upcoming appearance in “Justice League.”

I think most are excited to see how director James Wan will create those underwater scenes. It’s something that hasn’t really ever been done before with the characters being able to talk, move and act “underwater.” If so, a little Mermaid revival would have come out a long time ago.

While casting seems to be underway, Amber Heard is said to be playing Aquaman’s wife, Mera. Temuera Morrison of the ‘Green Lantern’ and ‘Moana’ is set to play Arthur’s father and Nicole Kidman will be playing his mother. This being Nicole Kidman’s second DC film, her first being “Batman Forever,”…remember that? Aquaman originally was going to premiere in July of 2018, but then got moved to October. Now Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that Aquaman will be arriving in theaters in December of 2018.
