Arizona woman gives birth to son at border crossing station

A Douglas woman returning from Mexico made it as far as a Customs and Border Protection office at a crossing before giving birth to a baby boy.

Customs and Border Protection says the 22-year-old woman approached officers Tuesday , saying she was in labor and about to give birth.

The officers took her inside to make her comfortable and called for emergency medical personnel.

However, CBP says in a news release that the baby didn’t wait and “entered the world at the port with the assistance of CBP officers.”

Emergency personnel then arrived and took the mother and her newborn son to a hospital for further care.
