Local VA to host open house and town hall after opening new clinic
The San Diego Healthcare System (VASDHS) is hosting an open house to showcase the new Imperial Valley Clinic facility and a Veteran Town Hall meeting.
The open house is scheduled for Friday, March 17 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the new clinic location at 1115 S. Fourth Ave. in El Centro. The town hall meeting will be held the same day from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Veterans’ Memorial Hall at 247 S. Imperial Ave. in the City of Imperial.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs issued a release which said the VASDHS wants to hear from the veteran community on feedback and suggestions on their VA health care.
The new clinic opened February 21.
“We’ve had a clinic in Imperial Valley since 1996, but this new clinic will provide a more significant presence in the community,” Smith said.
It consists of four exam rooms for primary care, 12 telehealth rooms for remote care and mental health counseling, lab services and My HealthVet computer access to search for medical information and refill prescriptions.
The clinic will have a full staff including, primary care providers including physicians, nurse practitioners, nurse care managers, a social worker and clinical support.
