Collision sends five to the hospital; alcohol may be a factor

Five people were sent to the hospital after a 24-year-old driver failed to stop at a stop sign.

The Yuma Police Department says the driver, Stephanie Martinez, was driving down Palo Verde Street in Yuma in her Mazda 6 when she failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Palo Verde Street and Avenue Three East.

Police say Martinez collided with a tractor trailer truck that was southbound on Avenue Three East Friday night. The driver and her four passengers were transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers say alcohol may be a factor in the collision.

This case is currently under investigation.
