Dozens attend District 13 Superintendent Forum

Dozens of parents and school staff gathered to hear ideas from three educators who are running for District 13 Superintendent.

The forum was held Monday at Pueblo Elementary School, where the candidates got a chance to share their ideas with the community.

Candidates, Laurie Doering, Cyndie Mattox and Timothy Mayclin answered questions submitted by parents, staff and students.

All three candidates come from different backgrounds of several years of experience in education.

“This is big for our district, changes are a coming, and we would like to kind of get a little bit of a foresight on, you know? What these candidates have,” said Trina Schoengarth, who is a school librarian at Centennial Elementary.

“We as parents and grandparents need to assure that the training come from within the home and I want to make sure that is always the case,” said Norma Nelson, who has grandchild who attends Crane Schools.

The search for a new superintendent comes after current Superintendent Robert Klee announced he will be retiring at the end of June this year.
